Three Record-Breaking Faces Of Oscar Night 2025!
It was a night to celebrate cinema, and Oscar did just that by setting multiple records!
In Hollywood, the Academy Awards were handed out for the best films and performances of 2024, and it was a record breaking night!

“Anora” Rocks The Oscars!
First and foremost, congratulations to “Anora” for the very well deserved win for Best Picture Of The Year! It’s a brilliant, electrifying film that set Oscar records with its victory!

Sean Baker Goes “4 For 4!”
As I said, it was a BIG BIG BIG BIG record-breaking night for “Anora!” Producer-Writer-Director-Editor Sean Baker became the first person to win four Oscars in the same year for the same film!
He won every award he was nominated for – taking home the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, Best Editor, Best Director, and Best Picture of the year!
There was one more big win for the film as well!

The film’s star Mikey Madison won Best Actress as well – her performance is frenetic and captivating, bringing a layer of emotional heft to her role as a sex worker who marries the son of a Russian Oligarch! Bravo!
Here’s more Oscar history made last night:

Zoe Saldaña Is The First American Of Dominican Origin To Win An Oscar!
When Zoe Saldaña won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for “Emilia Pérez“, she spoke about her family’s experience as immigrants. “My grandmother came to this country in 1961,” she said. “I am the proud child of immigrant parents with dreams and dignity and hardworking hands, and I am the first American of Dominican origin to accept an Academy Award. And I know I will not be the last.”

The Animated Film “Flow” Becomes The First Oscar-Winning Latvian Film!
The low-budget animated film “Flow” upset “Inside Out 2” and “The Wild Robot” to become the first independent film to win Best Animated Film at the Oscars.

Paul Tazewell Makes Costume Design History!
Paul Tazewell, who had previously been nominated for his work in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, took home the Academy Award for Costume Design, making Oscar history in the process.
“I am the first Black man to receive the Oscar design award,” he said during his speech. “I’m so proud of this.” He went on to honor his “Ozian muses, Cynthia and Ariana” as the Wicked stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande gave him a standing ovation in the audience.

Adrien Brody Makes Best Actor History…
Adrien Brody set an Oscar record Sunday when he won Best Actor for his work in “The Brutalist.” He is the first person to win two Best Actor Oscars in his first two nominations. He previously won for his role in The Pianist in 2003. His first Oscar set a record that still stands for youngest man to win Best Actor in Academy Awards history.

Brazil Gets An Oscar At Last!
Finally, one more country gets Oscar gold for the first time! After five previous nominations, Brazil finally snagged the Oscar for best international feature with I’m Still Here.
What a night! Bravo to all involved, and once the show ended, it all came down to the celebration!

“A Real Pain” Producer Emma Stone hugs Best Supporting Actor winner Kieran Culkin at the Governors Ball – but what did they eat?

After the show, many attendees headed off to parties all over tinseltown, including at Hollywood’s oldest restaurant!

106 years and still going strong!

Well, I decided, on the spur of the moment, to put all proposed work for the day aside – began watching at 10.30am and finished past 2pm! Loved it . . , at ‘my age’ it was kinda delightful to see Whoopi Goldberg in her fashionable haircut and Mick Jagger and Elton John et al still around. And when ‘Flow’ won my day was made . . . well, we Estonians-borns may ‘hate’ our neighbours Latvians but that pic just had to get the statue 🙂 !

I appreciate this, as I don’t watch the Oscars. Mainly because I never get to see the films beogre they win, and the time difference to watch it on TV! Looking forward to seeing some of these when they go ‘mainstream’.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yep I’m used to having them start at 4p in LA, so it takes getting used to them starting at night in New York!
