Wow! On Feb. 28th You Can See The Galaxy’s Incredible “Planetary Parade!”

Talk About A Lineup Of Stars – er, Planets!

As close to a “once in a lifetime” event as you will ever look up to see, a rare seven-planet alignment (aka “planetary parade”) will light up the sky on the night of February 28, 2025, featuring Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune! This won’t happen again until 2040.

Here are a few of the great images being shared on social media about the phenomenon:

While they won’t form a perfect line, they’ll align along the ecliptic, the Sun’s path in the sky. Best viewed about 45 minutes after sunset, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus will be visible to the naked eye. Wow!

As this graphic shows, you won’t see another one like this for awhile, so go to your local news source to see what you might be able to view from your community!

Oh and what about this?

That’s Saturn at the upper left of the photo, with its massive rings…and that tiny speck is the earth!

I love images of the galaxy and planets around us – truly spectacular:

This is the surface of Mars, and you can see clips of the planet’s surface here:

This came a few months after NASA sent a drone up in the air on Mars as well:

Here is that story:

It’s amazing to me how much Mars looks like part of the US southwest – but that’s nothing compared to how the planet Jupiter looks:

That’s the surface of Jupiter, looking very much like an abstract painting!

  1. Very cool! I love everything about space. How I wish our neck of the woods ‘cooperated’ in viewing the aligned planets.

  3. Have to do some homework! Methinks all of you are speaking from the Northern Hemisphere – here under the Southern Cross matters may just be different? Know very little but am interested . . .

  4. It’s really cool. Kind of crazy that it won’t happen again until 2040.

  5. I haven’t heard anything about this locally. I’ll check now. Thanks for the heads up.

  6. We have had a chance to see that alignment here for a few days now, but cloud and rain meant it wasn’t clear enough in Beetley. Tonight should be crisp and cold, so I will be out looking once it gets dark.

    Best wishes, Pete.
