It’s just another magnificent fall day in New York City.
Do NOT listen to anyone who says it’s a garbage can, hellscape or worse…they are denigrating our incredible country because it’s the only way they think they can win a vote: by lying with vicious, racist tropes designed to tear us apart….but it won’t work and here’s why:

It’s Another Glorious Marathon Day In The Big Apple!
Today is the New York City Marathon, and as you can see it’s gorgeous in Central Park, where the race finishes. The 26 mile course goes through all five of the city’s boroughs…

The race begins on Staten Island, and runners cross the Verrazzano bridge into Brooklyn, up through Queens and into the Bronx, then down along Central Park into Manhattan, where they end up here:

Alex and I checked it out yesterday, when thousands were gathering all day to get photos and a closeup look at where 50,000 runners will cross…so much fun and so much positive energy in the city!

The city is so lively, as I caught this shot of more than a hundred food delivery people waiting at the “to go” window at Parm – because of course the runners need some last minute carbo loading delivered to their hotel rooms!

And after running, many will head down to “The Highline”, where an abandoned elevated railroad track has been converted into a mile long walking park, and where they have inventive displays of art like this:

Yes, that’s me hanging out with a two story tall statue of a Pigeon – check it out:
As you can see, New York is lively, fun, safe and very welcoming…that’s why, when people come to town, they marvel at how many lies are spewed on right-wing media outlets – again, designed to stir up hatred for others…when in New York, everyone gets along and has a blast….like doing this!

Walking Across The Brooklyn Bridge!
Alex and I have done it, my sister Susanne and her husband Bob did it, and tens of thousands a day do it as well…a walkway right in the middle of a bustling bridge that is a true world wonder!
And if you drive into Manhattan at night, the suspension cables make for a wonder shot of the city, which I got just last night:

I love the city and you will as well…let’s all start being positive, proactive, and respect our differences…hate as you place here in the future and we are not going back.
Now, here’s more on the bridge, which was part of my “Hitch Hiking” series of long hikes and classic movies:
It’s not my first “Hitch Hike” in New York – remember my 196 block long stroll through the big apple?

I walked 196 blocks, and the place it will take you, like the city’s magnificent Central Park…click here to see that entire journey:

Wonderful post, John. Hats off to New York, and thank you for reminding people that there is no room for negativity. New York has it all, and you have featured many places. I think few people know how beautiful Central Park is. Of course I love the Brooklyn Bridge, and the story of the elephants from the circus being the first to cross the bridge. Cheers to New York, and your upside down picture with the pigeon statue. 😀

Terrific post, John, and thanks for defending our country from all the negativity. I would love to take in the New York City marathon once (as a spectator). 😊

Pete, we met an older person from Texas who said they wouldn’t go into Central Park or take a subway or NYC cab because they were all “too dangerous” – he refused to leave his hotel – so sad and misguided – and you know where he was getting his information…

Such a joyously positive image of life in NYC, John. I feel the same about london, which also gets a bad press but is a wonderful place to live. I enjoyed the photos, especially the huge pigeon!
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes Pete, the lies and hatred for the city – and our country – is really unbelievable…from people who want to “lead” us, but are intent on destroying us.
