Let’s Visit Ireland’s Most Haunted Castle! The Scariest Places For Halloween!

Welcome To Leap Castle!

As we enjoy the month of October by watching scary movies in preparation for Halloween night, my #wanderlust has kicked in full gear – time to check out some haunted houses, beginning with one of the scariest in the world!

I read about the haunted Leap Castle, located in Ireland, at the terrific website Carpediemeire.com – more on that in a moment….first, here’s what makes Leap Castle so terrifying.

According to wikipedia:

“A Red Lady ghost is reported to walk the halls holding a dagger. Two little girls named Charlotte and Emily are reported to run up and down the spiral staircase. Emily died after she fell from the battlements on the top of the castle’s tower and Charlotte can still be seen running around after her sister and calling her name. The castle is allegedly haunted by a sinister elemental spirit referred to only as “It”. The creature is described by Mildred Darby as being about the size of a sheep with a human face, black holes for eyes and a nose and giving off the smell of a rotting corpse.”

The castle describes itself as “the world’s most haunted castle”, and I can understand why! I need to read this book to find out about all of the Ghosts that wander the halls!

The terrific website “Carpe Diem Eire” has Leap Castle on their terrific list of the 25 most haunted castles in Ireland – with terrific facts, trivia and photos as well – check out the website here if you love great travel blogs:

A little further east, how about spending the night here?

Welcome To Dracula’s Castle!

That’s right, time to head to Transylvania to visit Vlad The Impaler’s REAL Castle! A few years back, the Castle owners had a contest to spend halloween night inside – yes, this would have been your bedroom:

Here’s how they described the experience planned:

“A horse-drawn carriage carries you swiftly through Transylvania as the sun sets towards the horizon, heralding the hours of swooping bats and howling wolves. When you come around the final bend on the tree-lined road, you’ll catch a glimpse of Bran Castle. This misty mountain-top manor is home for the night. The chill that suddenly fills the carriage is not the evening mist, it’s a fear older than the forests now grown up around the castle rock. This is the lair of vampires, and you cannot leave until dawn.”

I would do it in a heartbeat – well, for as long as I had one!

Can you imagine exploring these ancient halls in the middle of the night? It reminds me of when my wife Alex explored the underground tunnel at a castle in Italy:

Of course, Dracula himself wasn’t at the end of the hall…I’d love to spend a night with Vlad…wouldn’t you?

If you want to see more about this incredible real Castle, click on my story here:

If you want to get your blood racing closer to home, why not buy this “Haunted Clown Motel?”

Oh, did I mention it’s located next to the cemetery?

Look we all know clowns can be scary enough without an added cemetery, but if you want to make a bid, here’s my story with details on the asking price!

And speaking of clowns:

Pennywise Is Here!

Yes, the original Pennywise, Tim Curry was great in the 80’s TV mini-series “It”, but the two new films were pretty great as well:

There are so many incredible evil clown films, and I’ve compiled a list to make your Halloween night even more horrific!
