Would You Spend The Night In This Haunted House?
Let’s take a look here: that is one spooky looking house – who knows what or who is inside? What I do know is that, for “Shocktober 2024”, I’ve got two great haunted house movies to watch in the dark!

“House On Haunted Hill”
You simply cannot enjoy Halloween season without a healthy dose of Vincent Price! This 1959 shocker still entertains today!
Here is the trailer, as Vincent himself invites you into the house:

Price was, by this time, becoming a legendary fixture in the horror genre, and don’t worry, that skeleton hung out with everyone who spent the night!

Price was so much more than just a Horror Icon, a fascinating life that resulted in this fascinating book:

From his early career as a romantic “third wheel” to becoming the curator of Art for Sears Roebuck – and so much more – read about this daughter’s memoir here:
The second haunted house feature is another terrific thriller from the 70’s:

“The Legend Of Hell House!”
Here’s the plot: Scientist Lionel Barrett (Clive Revill) and his wife, Ann (Gayle Hunnicutt), lead a team into the infamous Belasco House, supposedly haunted by the victims of its late owner, a notorious serial killer. Though the rational Barrett does not believe in ghosts, the other members of his group do, include devout spiritualist Florence Tanner (Pamela Franklin) and psychic medium Benjamin Fischer (Roddy McDowall), who has been in Belasco House before and seen what horrors can befall those who enter it.
Here is the trailer:

This is a great film for Halloween season, with a terrific cast and tight direction.

Pamela Franklin stars in the film and I shared a story about her working with Orson Welles…hint: it did not go well!

As we head into Halloween evening, here are two more great films to check out – two of my favorites!

Oh, yeah, two of my favorites! And don’t forget “The Haunting,” starring Julie Harris! I think it might be the best ghost movie ever filmed.

Good choices, John. I would happily spend the night in a haunted house. After two bottles of red wine, I would be fast asleep until morning!
Best wishes, Pete.
