That’s Director Ed Wood Jr., listening to the legendary Actor Bela Lugosi during the making of one of his films. Oh, and this is Wood as well:

Yes, he was a cross dresser, but that’s just part of the fascinating world of this Director – who once made “the worst film of all time!” More on that in a moment, but first, a chance to watch one of his movies!

My blogging friend Lisa Marie Bowman celebrated Woods’ 100th birthday with this great tribute. As she wrote:
“Today we celebrate Ed Wood’s 100th birthday with his sequel to Bride of the Monsters. In Night of the Ghouls, con man Dr. Alcula (Kenne Duncan) moves into Bela Lugosi’s old mansion and pretends to talk to the dead. What Alcula doesn’t realize is that the house is actually haunted (by Tor Johnson’s Lobo, among others) and real ghosts don’t appreciate pretend ghosts.
What can you say about a film like of Night of the Ghouls? It’s an Ed Wood film, with all that suggests. However, how can you resist a film that starts with Criswell sitting up in his coffin and providing commentary?”
Lisa shared a link to the film in its entirety, which you can find in her story here:
I love movies, and so does Director Tim Burton – in fact, he loves the story of Hollywood, especially those who struggle to make it in the business – case in point: Director Ed Wood, widely considered to be the worst Director of all time!
So, let’s remember that Director Tim Burton made a beautiful film about Woods and his eccentric life:

“Ed Wood”
Was he Hollywood’s worst Director? Who cares, he made his movies like “Plan Nine From Outer Space” – and for that we should applaud him – as Burton did with this terrific bio-pic starring Johnny Depp in a terrific performance – check out the trailer:
I love this movie. Johnny Depp gives Wood a warmth and empathy – and he wears a pink Angora sweater very well! Bill Murray is terrific in a supporting role as well…

Martin Landau’s amazing portrayal of Bela Lugosi won his the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor….and as for that distinction as the worst film ever made:

“Plan 9 From Outer Space!”
Yes, this is the film that has been called the worst film of all time, and I can reveal that there are not, in fact, any of the 8 previous plans mentioned in the film, but check out the trailer:
I mean, how can you not put this film on every Halloween season and rejoice!
Happy 100th to a singular unique storyteller!
And as for Burton, did you know this?

Yes, the “Ed Wood”, “Beetlejuice” and “Batman” Director was making a “Superman” film with Nicolas Cage!

As for Nicolas Cage: well, he continues to make movies of all kinds, with his own unique style:

I watched SIX of his recent movies and lived to talk about it – click here to see which ones:

I have not seen any Wood’s films, but I definitely want to see Burton’s movie.
