“Oppenheimer” Rocks The Oscar Nominations – Here Is The Entire List!

A big day today in Hollywood as the nominations for the Academy Awards were revealed!

“Oppenheimer” towered over all other films at this year’s Academy Award nominations, receiving 13 nominations….

The brilliant “Poor Things” was next with 11 nominations including Best Picture, Director and Best Actress for Emma Stone. Mark Ruffalo got a well-deserved nomination in the Supporting Actor category, where there was a big happy surprise:

Sterling K. Brown was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his hilarious work as the goofy brother in “American Fiction”, which also scored nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor Jeffrey Wright!

Lily Gladstone became the very first Native American woman to be nominated for Best Actress for “Killer Of The Flower Moon”, which also got Robert DeNiro a Supporting Actor nomination as well and Best Picture and Director.

“Barbie” received 8 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling as Ken…however, with no Best Actress or Best Director nominations, the film is unlikely to be a contender for Best Picture.

“The Holdovers” was nominated for Best Picture as well as Paul Giamatti as Best Actor and Da’Vine Joy Randolph for Best Supporting Actress….

After today’s noms, Academy members will cast their final votes from February 22-27 ahead of the Oscar ceremony March 10 live on ABC hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

  1. HI John, this is very interesting. I’m not surprised Oppenheimer is there. I didn’t like the start of Barbie so that was that for me.

  2. I enjoyed watching several of these filmsand I am always happy that I don’t vote!

  3. Yet again, another year when I haven’t seen a single one of the films nominated.

The one I am mainly interested in is ‘Anatomy of A Fall’, which looks to be a gripping French courtroom drama. I might buy that on DVD when it is released in February.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Pete, I still need to see “Oppenheimer” and “Anatomy Of A Fall” then I’m in good shape…you might like “The Holdovers” and “poor Things” is a mind-blower to be sure!

      • ‘Poor Things’ looks interesting, I really liked the director’s films ‘The Favourite’, and ‘Dogtooth’. Not so sure about ‘The Holdovers’. From clips shown around the BAFTAS/Oscars season, it didn’t really appeal. Oppenheimer might be very good, I like Cillian Murphy a lot. But I am struggling to be that interested in a story I already know so much about.

        Best wishes, Pete.

      • Yes Pete my issue is whether I can care enough for 3 hours of making a bomb that caused such carnage….but I will watch it. Understand your POV on “Holdovers” but if you liked any of the Director’s previous films you’d like this one..please tell me you saw “Sideways!”

      • Oh yes, I watched ‘Sideways’. A film about wine usually grabs my attention. :)
