The Turtles Are Out In Central Park!
Yes, I’ve come a bit obsessed with the Turtles that live in “The Lake” in New York’s Central Park…perhaps because there are so many of them!
Literally anywhere you go around the lake, there will be Turtles floating around, enjoying the park as well…and the pictures you can get are so much fun!
“The Lake” , as it is known, is on the southwestern side of the park – and now that the Boathouse is open, you see rowboats on the lake all day long…with some of New York’s classic apartment buildings in the background…
When walking around the lake, you can explore “The Ramble” to the north, which is a peaceful, wooded series of paths…
At the south end of the lake is Bethesda fountain – and a group always forms at the waters edge, because the Turtles congregate there for food!
Here is the fountain, the lake and the Turtles:
On this day, it was like a convention – the reason? Turtle food had been left on the first step – watch as I was lucky to capture several hungry Turtles stretch their necks out to grab a bite!
Watch close as they come out and snatch their food!
Every time I walk through Central Park I stop by to see how the Turtles are doing and guess what? They are doing just fine – remember when I saw a young child petting one?

I am also a huge fan of “The Ramble”, and if you watch this video I shot, you can see it goes on and on in peaceful solitude..take a look:
It’s just one of the many magical things about the park….here’s more:

Although I have never been to America, those locations are so familiar to me from a lifetime of watching films. We don’t have turtles here, so I would definitely be fascinated by them.
Best wishes, Pete.

It’s 800+ acres in the middle of Manhattan, and there is so much to see and do and it’s virtually all free – when you walk through the park, it’s full of people walking, rollerblading, bicycling, taking a horse carriage and more…so fun!
