Who’s Ready To Dive Into The “Grave Pool”?
Well, that’s a catchy name, isn’t it? With summer in full swing who isn’t planning a trip to a water park?
The legendary New Jersey theme park called “Action Park” had a wave pool that was state-of-the-art. It was one of the very first wave pools in the country, a marvel of engineering that created random tidal waves up to 3.5 ft. tall!
Oh, and it killed people!
Welcome to “Class Action Park!”
One of America’s most notorious theme parks is the subject of a fascinating documentary that tells the wild – and deadly – story of Action Park!
Look at that “upside down” water tunnel!
HBOMax now has “Class Action Park”, the first-ever feature-length documentary to explore the legend, legacy, and truth behind a place that long ago entered the realm of myth!
As they describe “Action park”:
“To some, New Jersey’s infamous Action Park was the most spectacularly fun amusement park on Earth: A place where unruly 1980s teenagers were given free rein to go gonzo on strange contraptions that seemed to violate the laws of common sense (and perhaps physics). To others, it was an ill-conceived death trap. One thing is sure: It’s the type of place that will never exist again.”
What really makes the film pop, however, are the hilariously candid interviews with the people who lived through the dangers of “Action Park” to reveal the true story for the first time.
Check out the trailer:
Check Out The Deadly “Alpine Slide”!
Does this slide look fun? Well, it was built on the side of a ski run, and guests were literally hurtled down the side of the mountain with few safety features!
In fact, a 19-year-old park employee died on the slide in 1980, when a malfunction caused his sled to not turn correctly on the concrete and fiberglass track!
And What About “The Loop”?
If you have any history with water slides, you know they consist of a wet track with lots of running water – and a nice soft pool at the end…but not at “Action Park!”
Here, this completely enclosed slide hurdled you downhill at a 45°-angle, before enduring a 15-to-20-foot drop – it was called “the loop” and the documentary has wild video of tests done on it – they paid young park employees $100 if they’d try it!
Yes, this was a water slide – now imagine hurtling through it in pitch darkness, only to be slammed against the inner tubing and flung upside down – where the water didn’t run, before being shot out…the stories about this ride in the documentary are shocking!
As you can see, the park LOVED to lay down long tracks of slides, causing many people to fly over the rails!
Social media is filled with people who are sharing their memories of this wild wild theme park!
This is one of the most entertaining – and stunning – documentaries I’ve ver seen, so check it out! Because much of it was based int eh 80’s, it reminded me of this documentary as well:
This legendary documentary was completely filmed in the parking lot before a heavy metal concert!

When it comes to wild water slides, how about this one?
Yes, it’s an individualized roller coaster that flies down a Swiss mountain!

Wow, I don’t know how this park was ever allowed but I can see the attraction for a lot of wild youngsters.

I wouldn’t go anywhere near that place, John. Then again, I am not a theme park person, and as I cannot swim, I would not be in that pool. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

This theme park would never pass the many Health & Safety laws these days, not to mention threats of litigation if anybody was injured or worse.
