Will We Have A 2023 “Super Bloom”? Here’s The Colorful Forecast!

Remember California’s Incredible “Super Bloom?”

It was one of nature’s most spectacular moments: when Southern California hills “bloomed” with these spectacular colors in the spring of 2019:

So What’s On Tap For “Superbloom 2023”?

First, a bit of background – over the last month, much of California’s drought-ridden landscape was drenched with winter storms…and when there’s a lot of water hitting over the winter, that means a springtime “bloom!”

As you can see, the last one in 2019 attracted many many Photographers – in fact it was so crowded they had to shut it down for awhile!

Is A “Super Bloom” On The Way?

The great news is this: it seems likely!

With so much rain over the past two months, we now have a massive snowpack in the mountains, the ground was saturated with water during the winter – and that means lots of fuel for a “super bloom” in the next two months!

Luckily, we got to see it up close in 2019 – there were special paths to ensure no one trampled the flowers…

The entire state of California was deluged with rain in the last two months, turning a state that was more than 80% drought stricken to one that was suddenly soaked with water – and we are hoping that once again it will pay off this way!

Here’s a quote I found online today discussing just how spectacular a super bloom is:

“When flowers are so abundant, you can’t really look away. You’re overwhelmed by the color, by the display, by the abundance,” said Naomi Fraga, director of conservation at the California Botanic Garden. “It’s quite a phenomenon to observe.”

You can click here to see some video as well – it’s hard to capture it with video, but it was worth trying!

Thanks Mother Nature, these magnificent displays help to brighten our year!

Along California’s coast, do you want to hang out with some Calla Lillies? Well, there’s a park to do just that…here’s a sneak peek:

This is a magical spot, and you can see it all by clicking on my story here:
