John, did you ever watch the original version of ‘Heat’, ‘L.A. Takedown’? Also directed by Mann, and I preferred it to the ‘big star’ remake.

I saw it before Heat as I bought the film on VHS before Heat was released. The later version was almost a scene-by-scene remake, with some extra scenes of course, but Mann had so much more money, it was stylish, and star-packed, unlike LA Takedown which had a ‘raw’ feel.

I found the film on You Tube. Not the best way to watch it unless you can stream it onto your big TV, but here’s the link.
