RIP Bo Hopkins…His “Flip A Cop Car” Scene From “American Graffiti” — Through the Shattered Lens

Lisa Marie Bowman From “Through The Shattered Lens” just shared this terrific moment….RIP to the legendary character Actor Bo Hopkins…

I just read that the veteran actor Bo Hopkins has passed away at the age of 84.  The last movie of note that I saw Hopkins in was Hillbilly Elegy, where he had a small role as Glenn Close’s husband.  However, if you’re a fan of older films, you will probably recognize Bo Hopkins, even […]

  1. In 1975 I was in 7th grade. I used to deliver the Herald Examiner on my bicycle in North Hollywood. Bo Hopkins lived on my root and I had no real clue who he was. I was only 13 years old. But before he seemed to really make big money, he had a modest home on I believe it was Ethel Ave near Kittridge Street. I remember when going to his house to collect for the paper he would let me in so I could see his incredible Habitrail plastic tubes hamster habitat in his front room. It was huge! By the way, Bo Hopkins tipped me well and was a down to earth nice man.

  2. 84? I guess the movie is that old. It’s one of the greats. R.I.P. Bo.

  3. I hadn’t heard this news. Bo was memorable, one of those supporting actors who always stood out in a film.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. A few years ago I was lucky enough to visit a friend who was working at LucasFilm. Of course I was in Geek Heaven, but when we stumbled upon a huge collage poster of American Graffiti I said to my kid, wait, let’s take a pause here: even if there was never a Star Wars or Indiana Jones… this, THIS — gesturing to the poster — this was enough.

Luke wanting to go into town to pick up power converters? This is where that comes from…

    RIP, Bo.
