The Riveting World Of “Tokyo Vice!” A New Series Based On A Real-Life Thriller!

Dive Into The Gritty World Of “Tokyo Vice!”

I cannot wait for this new thriller coming to HBOMax in early April – because it’s based on this real-life thriller:

I loved this book, and the series “Tokyo Vice” is inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s nonfiction, firsthand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat.

As they announced:

“The crime drama, filmed on location in Tokyo, captures Adelstein’s (Ansel Elgort) daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo in the late ‘90s, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem.”

Here is the trailer for the series:

The series will premiere with three episodes on Thursday, April 7, followed by two episodes airing every Thursday until the season finale on April 28.

I own the book that the series is based on, which is riveting:

Adelstein went to Tokyo to report on the city, and he learned so much more about what lies underneath these neon streets:

I have been to Tokyo five times, and there are parts of the city that defy description:

I filmed a number of wild stories from Tokyo’s nightlife with Host Alex Sim-Wise, who was up for anything:

  1. I remember reading this book quite a few years ago, and really liking it, but I forgot all about it until I saw the trailer. Now I’m looking forward to it (HBO Max continues to be a good investment), because it has a lot of my favorite Japanese actors in it (Watanabe, and Kikuchi). I could do without the bland actor playing the lead. I wish they’d picked someone a little bit more photogenic, but he was cool in Baby Driver, so he’ll do.

  2. I like the sound of this one, but have no access to HBO Max. Hopefully, one of the other companies will pick it up in the summer.
    Best wishes, Pete.
