Zachariah “Zach” Selwyn has had a great career as a Singer-Songwriter, Actor, Host and Writer on such series as “America’s Secret Slang”, “Guinness World Records Gone Wild!” and “Catch It Keep It.” He got his start as a contestant on the ESPN reality show “Dream Job.”
Of course, he was part of my “Dream Team” at G4TV – as one of the Hosts of “Attack Of The Show!”
Zach is excited to announce he has published his first crime mystery novel, “Austin Translation.”
Set in Austin, Texas during the summer of 2020, it’s the twisted story of True Crime Podcaster Rob Stoner, who is set up for the murder of a young girl. Stoner must use his amateur sleuthing skills to clear his name, find the killer and save his marriage all during a global pandemic!
Here’s how the book begins:
“It was one of those obnoxious, hipster hotels. You know the type. The rooms have rotary dial phones in them that are only capable of reaching the front desk. You can rent a vintage typewriter for $50.00 if you feel like composing some longhand poetry. Each room has a sewing machine. They refuse to use electronic key cards in the locks, so you are provided with a ridiculous oblong 1970’s-era key chain that costs $15.00 to replace and guarantees you will lose it within your first 24 hours…it was one of those places with its own merchandise table. Welcome to the Hotel San Joachin in Austin, Texas.”
Zach told me how the book came about – thanks to “Kinky” Friedman, the iconic Singer, Songwriter, Novelist and Humorist:
“I traveled to Austin for work in 2020 during the pandemic and met Kinky Friedman at his ranch. – We became fast brothers and when I had returned to Austin from his ranch I had this book in mind… Maybe the ghosts of his ranch inspired me, but something happened and when I got back to LA I wrote this fairly quickly!”
So here you go: the pandemic murder mystery to end the year on a creative high point!

Zachariah and the Lobos Riders performed many times live on “Attack of the Show!” This song was from their terrific CD “Alcoholiday”:
Zach continues to record and perform music, along with the myriad of other jobs he has!
Here is the haunting new song “Cloud Road” – off of the new Zachariah & the Lobos Riders EP from this year.

Of course, Zach was just one of the many terrific G4 Hosts I was lucky enough to work with:
Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn hosted “Attack Of The Show” as well – and I went with them to the original “Ninja Warrior” course on Mt. Midoriama in Tokyo!
I may have taken a photo with her on the course, but Olivia was brave enough to actually run it!
Here’s a look at that adventure:
