Who Wants To Live In Buffalo Bill’s House?
Well, the timing couldn’t be better: why not buy a house and celebrate Halloween with this guy? My “Cult Movie Monday” looks at this masterful thriller and the house it was made in!
As Deadline.com reports, the VERY CREEPY Pennsylvania home – where Buffalo Bill kept a dungeon in the 1991 shocker “The Silence of the Lambs” is for sale – and it’s only $300,000!
This three-story Princess Anne Victorian home is where FBI agent Clarice Starling met serial killer Buffalo Bill. Clarice had two psychopaths to deal with int he film – the other was Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
“The Silence Of The Lambs” is a brilliant film: in fact, it won seven Academy Awards in 1992, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins, Best Actress for Jodie Foster, and Best Director for Johnathan Demme.
For those who need a refresher, here’s the trailer for the film:
The film is only one of THREE in Oscar history to win the top five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay!
The other two, by the way, are “It Happened One Night” in 1934, and “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” in 1975.
Now, I know that the ghost of Buffalo Bill is enough to make you buy the place this Halloween, but if you need more, a cool tour was posted on YouTube…check it out!
The four-bedroom house is listed for $298,500. It sits on 1.76 acres of land that lies along the Youghiogheny River. The house has four bedrooms, but I doubt the “kidnap pit” exists!
This would be a great way to spend Halloween night: turn off all the lights, put on the film and imagine what happened in this place!
If you don’t need a new house but still want a good scare for Shocktober, try this:
Yes, you can stay overnight at the motel featured in “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!”

And for the ultimate Halloween night, how about this?
How about spending the night Dracula’s real castle?
I would do it in a second!

Very creepy movies, and how cool to be in those houses. Did you know that this Halloween night will be both a full moon and a blue moon?

Eeek. I’ll pass. Though I bet that river property is pretty nice–in the Laurel Highlands of PA, I think.

I could fall asleep in any one of those places. I’m pretty sure I can sleep through the actual apocalypse, so a haunted house wouldn’t phase me much! I’d love to spend a night exploring Dracula’s castle, too.

HA! Yes, wouldn’t it be great to just be left alone to wander that castle at night? Thanks for commenting, always great hearing from you!

Silence of the Lambs was a horrific movie, John. I have never forgotten it. Nightmare on Elms Street is the other horror movie I’ve never forgotten. Being killed in your sleep is super scary.
