Before I explain why you will be humming Genesis for the rest of the day, let’s begin with the greatest Genesis song of the Phil Collins era: the “prog” pop/rock majesty of “Turn It On Again…”
“Turn It On Again” is pure 80’s, but did you know that the band Genesis formed in 1967? Did you know that Peter Gabriel was the lead singer? Did you know he dressed like this?

If you only know the singer from his “Sledgehammer” song, you have missed out on his most “colorful” period…as lead singer of Genesis!

Cindy, I just re-listened to “Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” and “Duke” – one classic 70’s Genesis, the other their movie to an 80’s sound minus Gabriel….both terrific! Thanks for commenting!

They were one of those rare bands that my ex-husband and I wracked so many hours listening to. My kids grew up listening to them. I still listen to Then There Were THree and Wind and Wuthering. Duke. They are awesome.

I saw them at the Fairfield Halls in London, at the height of their popularity wtih Gabriel as front man. They brought the house down with ‘I know what I like in your wardrobe’.

Saw them interviewed on the news last night. Phil Collins, son will be their drummer. Have to say Phil looked his age.

Yes, he did the documentary because of the mega-greatest hits release, but they don’t seem to enjoy each other’s company much!
