The Academy REVERSES Itself! ALL Categories At The Oscars Will Be Presented Live!

All Oscars Will Be Presented Live!

After taking a beating from the award groups that were being relegated to commercial breaks, the Motion Picture Academy just reversed it’s decision and will present all categories live!

Deadline.com just reported:

The Motion Picture Academy has decided to reverse plans to award the four categories during commercial time — Cinematography, Editing, Make-Up and Hairstyling and Live Action Short — and the winners will be awarded during the live telecast. This become the latest in an Oscarcast that has been trying hard to bring the Academy Awards into the 21st century, but bucking up against an organization steeped in tradition.

Here’s part of the statement from the Academy:

“The Academy has heard the feedback from its membership regarding the Oscar presentation of four awards – Cinematography, Film Editing, Live Action Short, and Makeup and Hairstyling,” theofficers of the Academy’s board of governors said. “All Academy Awards will be presented without edits, in our traditional format. We look forward to Oscar Sunday, February 24.”

While this was originally agreed to back in September, in the last two weeks numerous stars had spoken out slamming the decision, and all of the affected guilds did as well…so as of now, this year’s “Host-less” Academy Awards will present all awards live…

See you at the Oscars!

    • Indeed, Robbie. I have worked in entertainment my entire career, went to several Oscar ceremonies, created the live red carpet arrivals coverage, and what has happened to this organization in the last 5 years has been shocking and sad. They have really lost their way

  2. I hope you enjoy the ceremony, John. I won’t be watching, as I have given up on it long ago.
    Best wishes, Pete.
