“You see, Jason was my son, and today is his birthday…”
Meet Jason Voorhees!
Time to celebrate Shocktober 2018 by taking you to Camp Crystal Lake, where a young of young people, including the great Kevin Bacon, are about to have a terrifying night!
You see, Jason has decided to crash their party in the most horrorifc way! Time to celebrate the classic 80’s slasher, “Friday The 13th!”
IMDB describes the plot this way:
“One summer at Camp Crystal Lake, a group of young counselors begin to get ready to lead campers. Unfortunately for the former, someone isn’t happy about what’s going on in the camp and enjoys playing kill the counselor. As bodies fall to the ground in the camp, no one is safe.”
Ain’t that the truth! Here is the original trailer:
This horror classic has spawned ELEVEN SEQUELS – including the inevitable “crossover” attempt where they tried to set him against another fading movie franchise “A Nightmare On Elm Street” for the regrettable “Freddy Vs. Jason”:
That’s more painful than one of Jason’s knife wounds. But while the quality dropped with each subsequent effort, this series still connected with an entire generation of horror fans!
Director Sean S. Cunningham has said that the type of actors that he sought for the film were “good-looking kids who you might see in a Pepsi commercial.” And that is certainly what he got!
The movie was filmed at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in New Jersey. The camp is still in operation, and it has a wall of Friday the 13th memorabilia – a mini-movie museum!
If you’d rather have haunted houses than lakeside skewering, try this classic Halloween film:
“The Changeling” is a great “scary movie” with a terrific performance by Oscar-winning Actor George C. Scott!
A new blu-ray edition gives lots of fun extras, check them out here, along with the trailer:
Celebrate these #31daysofhalloween with some classic horror!

I can’t lie, I do love a slasher film every so often haha. Have never seen Friday 13th though or any of the 100 sequels, I have always been a little scared but maybe I should give them a go!
Can’t believe they kept making them!! Have to admit I am very curious about the new Halloween movie coming out

Agree, I hope they do the original “Halloween” proud…Friday The 13th isn’t that good, but it’s iconic and for that reason alone…

Slasher films are probably my least favourite Horror genre, and ‘indestructible’ villains can be annoying. But the original film was certainly good at the time, and still worth a re-watch.
Best wishes, Pete.
