Welcome to #BannedBooksWeek 2018

A list of vital works of art

BBW18PosterThis year I’ll be doing a mix of things. There will be a few reviews, a few reflections on articles I’ve come across in the past year, and I’m hoping to participate in the “Dear Banned Author” program.

Will you join me?

  1. The only one shown that I have read is ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’, though I have seen the film of ‘The Kite Runner’. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to ban either of those. They were of their time, historical in context, and carried great moral messages.
It is like the uproar against D.W. Griffith’s film, ‘Birth Of A Nation’. It is set in a period of history where such things happened, and continued to happen for a century after. If we ban all this, we are not only whitewashing History, we are setting a very nasty precedent for what might follow.
    Best wishes, Pete.
