RIP Verne Troyer…
This is such sad news.
Verne Troyer, who played “Mini-Me” in two of the Austin Powers movies, has died at the age of 49, according to statements posted to his social media accounts Saturday.
No cause of death has been released yet.
I was lucky enough to meet with him several times about a potential food show, and he was funny, engaged, interested in a wide range of subjects, and self-aware in the best way…
“Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh,” a statement posted to his social media said. “Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message every day.”
Here is the great rap video “Hard Knock Life” by Dr. Evil and Mini-Me, from “Goldmember”…
He had a long list of acting credits, as well as commercials and reality TV as well. This is truly sad, he was far too young…
RIP Verne…

He was still so young… Well, now I can stop holding me breath as we got our 3.. 1st Gunny, then Harry Anderson and now Verne Troyer. I guess we’re safe now until we lose someone else.. So sad. 😔

I didn’t know much about him, but he featured on a TV ad for online casinos a lot here, and you could tell he was getting the joke. Sad indeed, but nice to hear that you have good memories of your personal contact with him.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes Pete I think he did very well doing those ads, and I think he did a season of “Big Brother” there as well…I included a clip from “Goldmember” because he was really great in those films!

Yes, I chose not to rehash some of his recent personal struggles – just wanted to leave a great movie moment to remember him by…

Yes, I know he was struggling with personal demons, but that’s not what is worth discussing – I wanted to celebrate just how good he was on camera…thanks for your note!
