“You Are Tearing Me Apart, Lisa!”
It’s one of the most iconic lines in film history…and it was uttered, with an amazing intensity, by Tommy Wiseau…in one of cinema’s strangest success stories!
Yes, let’s take a moment to behold the majesty of…”The Room.” This 2003 cult film is a movie sensation – I’ll explain more in a moment – and now, James Franco portrays Wiseau in a film that tells the story of how “The Room” came to be!
“The Disaster Artist!”
This terrific book was written by Greg Sestero, who was a friend of Tommy Wiseau’s – and a co-star in “The Room”…his “tell all” book is now a great movie by James Franco playing the leading role!
Franco directed the film as well, which also stars his brother Dave, Bryan Cranston, Alison Brie and Seth Rogan…it has just opened to terrific reviews!
Here is the trailer:
James Franco’s resemblance to Tommy Wiseau is extraordinary – here is Tommy:
“The Room” has become a phenomenon, and “The Disaster Artist” tells the inside story of how Sistero met Tommy, their unique friendship, the making of the film AND the fallout afterwards…and guess what? Wiseau was at the SXSW screening for the film, posing with the cast – and original cast member and Author Greg Sestero!
Go see “The Disaster Artist” to see how “The Room” became the most famous “bad movie” of all time!
“The Room” still plays all across the country as a “midnight movie” offering…with audience participation – and a real appreciation for just how unique the movie is…
Tommy Wiseau is a fascinating character, and the book delves into his muddy history as it also tells the story of how he created “The Room” – which was written, directed and starring Wiseau…it is widely regarded as the worst film ever made…and its popularity grows by the year….
Tommy Wiseau stars as “Johnny”, a successful banker who lives happily in a San Francisco townhouse with his fiancé, Lisa.
“You Are Tearing Me Apart, Lisa!”
Yes, THAT LISA.
Of course, there is so much more that transpires over the course of the film – here is the original trailer!
So there you go: many different ways to enjoy – and in fact – be consumed by the wonder of “The Room!” First and foremost, see the new movie!
See “The Disaster Artist” to discover the amazing story around the making of the film, and buy the blu-ray AND the book and you will love the story of this great film – then buy it and make someone very happy this holiday season!
And whatever you do, DON’T tear Tommy apart, Lisa!

I recall your love for this film before, and I have to confess that your enthusiasm for it is very infectious.

Pete, sometimes the “bad” ones are the “best” ones…and sometimes not, but in this case, the new movie is a great look at the people who try to make “art”

Okay, okay, I will! (You have a love for the exclamation mark.) 😉
Never heard of any of this, but I’m up for a comedy and the layers of the story are a cool premise. I love that Johnny Franco keeps plodding away as director/actor despite his unpopularity with the powers that be.

Cindy, I do!!! That said, “The Room” is hilariously awful, “The Disaster Artist” is a GREAT book about the film, and Sestero’s unique friendship with Wiseau…and the movie is an affectionate love letter to bad filmmaking and the passion for cinema that drives people to make movies!
