“Avatar” Sequels Begin Billion-Dollar Filming! Yes, James Cameron’s BILLION DOLLAR GAMBLE!

The Billon Dollar “Avatar” Sequels are Underway!

Mike Fleming Jr. just broke a huge story at Deadline.com.

Fleming reports that James Cameron officially began production on his “Avatar” sequels. And yes, he’s making 4 of them at once!

As Fleming reports:

“It will also be the most expensive shoot of its kind, at an estimated collective budget expected to surpass $1 billion. That would sound daunting if it was any filmmaker but Cameron, who directed the two top global grossing films of all time in Avatar and Titanic and also has Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Aliens in his win column. Fox releases the first one December 18, 2020, and the next comes a year later, with the last two in December 2024 and 2025.”

James Cameron’s Billion Dollar Gamble!

Yes, Deadline reports that Cameron is film all four sequels at the same time, with a combined budget of one billion dollars! You can click here for Deadline’s whole story:

This is a massive undertaking, but since “Avatar” is the biggest-grossing film of all time, it’s a good bet to make. Time will tell, as the movie industry is undergoing many big changes.

It’s been an uncertain year at the box office, with a number of high profile flops like this:

“The Mummy” and “Baywatch” were just two under-performing films at the beginning of the summer box office, see the others here:

The summer got worse as the weeks dragged on:

Will Ferrell had his worst opening ever with “The House” – see the other films that tanked this summer here:

So, a billion dollar bet on James Cameron – we’ll see how it plays out!

  1. I was unsure about ‘Avatar’. The film was so CGI-heavy that it played like a cartoon, much of the time. The bits with real people in them were the best bits, n my opinion. I would normally say that Cameron has left it too late to cash in on the franchise, but you never know…
    Best wishes, Pete.
