If you want to help, here is a great list
Two kayakers try to beat the current pushing them down an overflowing Brays Bayou along S. Braeswood in Houston, Texas, Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017. Rescuers answered hundreds of calls for help Sunday as floodwaters from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey climbed high enough to begin filling second-story homes, and authorities urged stranded families to seek refuge on their rooftops. Disaster indeed, John. On the news here, I saw Mr Trump pledging Federal money to help ‘everybody’. Is that not being done? Obviously, people will be generous, but for the cost of a few cruise missiles, the president could sort this out, surely?
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, he really has no understanding at all about how this works…it will be up to the rest of us to contribute to organizations that can be trusted to help those in need, like the Red Cross, etc.

Fair enough, John. I don’t know that much about how FEMA operates, but I am sure that ordinary people will step up. They almost always do.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, the painful lessons of Hurricane Katrina will no doubt make FEMA much more focused to help here. That said, usually these other organizations get there sooner to offer the most dramatic help, and the government helps in a longer-term way – just as with Katrina, it’s the 2-4 feet of water sitting in the neighborhoods that is the long-term disaster – these houses will all be ruined

I have to echo what John said, Pete. Trump is absolutely clueless, and to be fair, even if he wasn’t this is going to be one of the worst natural disasters to hit the U.S., and Texas and possibly parts of Louisiana are going to need all the help they can get.

You’re right Pete. Donations of money as well as hard items like food, etc. are pouring in. Nothing unites this country like a disaster!
