Bacon Sundaes! The McDuck! Cheeseburger Beds! A Bacon + Cheeseburger Worldwide Update!

First, let’s get this out of the way.

BK BACON SUNDAES!

Apparently, Burger King is testing bacon sundaes in Louisville. If anyone tries one, let us know…I love the funny side of bacon, but i’m not sure if we need this….Denny’s and Jack In The Box experimented with bacon sundaes and milkshakes, so we’ll see if this goes nationwide…here’s one more picture just to allow it to sink in appropriately:

Now, onto the latest bacon and burger news from around the world – and outer space!

“CRISPY SATURN CHEESEBURGER”

From the terrific website “Burgerbusiness.com”, here is something that Ruby’s Diner has come up with….

Here is how they describe it: “Have you ever loaded up a burger with cheese just so it could melt into a crispy puddle around the patty, and the scooped it all onto a bun? Yes, so has Ruby’s Diner. That funny-looking burger at left is its new “Crispy ‘Saturn’ Cheeseburger.” That cosmic ring is a mix of Cheddar, Jack and Parmesan cheeses.”

In 1962 Seattle hosted a World’s Fair, and legend was they served “Spaceburgers”, formed to look like spaceships…

Moses Lake Space Burgers may or may not have a connection, but alas, no photos of this legendary burger, which looked like a flying saucer with meat inside!

MCDONALD’S CONQUERS THE WORLD!

Back on earth, McDonalds has launched a number of localized burgers in various countries around the world.

McDonald’s South Korea offers the Bulgogi Burger (pork patty in bulgogi marinade). The bulgogi-flavored sauce was developed by Ottogi, a large South Korean food manufacturer that provides all of the condiments to the country’s McDonalds…

THE “EL MACO!”

Head to Australia for this nod to Mexico…a Big Mac with sour cream and salsa. FYI, Paul McCartney fans: McDonald’s Australian nickname is “Macca’s,” which the chain now is embracing. Current TV spots close with the Golden Arches logo and the tagline “It all comes together at Macca’s.”

Five Burger Ideas from Spain

Thanks again to the great website Burgerbusiness.com, who shared these latest burger ideas from Spain:

One popular tool in McDonald’s Euro marketing kit has been the “My Burger” competition. Consumers dream up new burgers, usually under the mandate to use only on-hand ingredients, with the best ideas tried as limited-time offers.

Above is the “McFlanders” – A beef patty specked with pepper topped with caramelized-onion sauce, lettuce, fresh onion, tomato, bacon and melted Emmental cheese on a French roll.and below is the “McCantabrica” – A crispy chicken patty with bacon-favored cheese, blue-cheese sauce, crispy onions and tomato on a corn-dusted ciabatta roll.:

BEHOLD THE McDUCK!

One finalist in Spain is “The McDuck!” – The Duck Sauce: A grilled chicken patty with spicy barbecue sauce (thus the name), lettuce, crispy onions and pepper-Jack cheese on a French roll.

OR…The McChop!

A beef patty with creamy mustard sauce, grilled onions, tomato, crisp red pepper bits, bacon and melted Emmental cheese on an Iberico roll.

Finally, The MC Bis!

This one involves a crispy chicken patty with Monterey Jack cheese, sweet mustard, tomato, bacon and crispy onions on a semolina-dusted bun.

GREEK BURGERS!

GRreece may have huge financial problems, but they will live forever with this Greek-Style Burger with Feta Aioli –

Packed full of veggies, these burgers have spinach and roasted red bell pepper stirred into the ground beef mixture. The feta cheese-yogurt topping rounds out the Greek flavors of the burgers.

Italian Meatball Burgers!
– or, you can go italian with your burger!

Combine Italian sausage, ground sirloin, oregano, basil and garlic to make patties that taste like Italian meatballs. Instead of ketchup and cheddar cheese, top with tomato pasta sauce and mozzarella.

And from the Hamburger museum – read all about it at “Burgerweb.com”

The Cheeseburger Water Bed!

Here is how the website describe it: “It is literally something you just have to see in person to get the full affect. No pictures do the custom bed sheets or custom bed skirt do this piece justice. And the affect of entering a room with a hamburger big enough to eat you is an experience you just have to experience, and honestly can not help but smile at.”

Agreed!
