Time For The “Sounds Of Shocktober!”
I was inspired by a fellow blogger to share some of the best songs for the Halloween season – and I had a blast doing so!

It’s the season for spooky sounds – and I found some terrific lists online of songs that evoke the season – like this one:

Here are a few of my favorites, beginning with one that has an incredible music video to support it!

The title track from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album was a massive hit – and an iconic music video with Vincent Price’s voice that is still so much fun to watch today!

What surprised me is the quote from Michael Jackson shown on screen before the video starts, saying the song in no way suggests he supports the occult!
HA!
Take a look!
Next up is a fun, goofy song about ghosts!

“Ghostbusters” is just pure fun – a funny and frightening film with a classic theme song – enjoy!
My next choice is also a fun goof, with this classic line:
“I saw a Werewolf drinking a Pina colada at Trader Vics…his hair was…PERFECT.”

Warren Zevon’s classic “Werewolves Of London” is always worth a listen – enjoy the music video!
And of course, the most unnerving song of them all is the theme song from the classic “Stocktober” film “Halloween” – and the theme was written by Director John Carpenter!
Again, I was inspired to do this list when I read my blogging friend Lisa Marie Bowman’s song choice – she has a terrific blog you need to check out – here she shares one of her favorite Halloween songs!
Back to “Thriller” and Vincent Price’s terrific narration – the master of horror also sang “The Monster Mash” as well…see that performance here:
And because it is “Shocktober”, here are three great horror films that all begin with the letter “C” – enjoy:

This is a great collection of songs! Ghostbusters, Monster Mash, and the Addams Family are still my faves.

such a fun halloween mix, perfect for the season. I still love the ‘nightmare before christmas’ soundtrack so much, but I tend to see it as both a Christmas and halloween movie )

Thank you! I was inspired by another blogger sharing a Halloween-themed song…I love to have music on when I am working and a few of these songs are favorites, although perhaps a bit too much for work! Always great to hear from you!

An interesting set, John. I’ll be posting my own for Halloween on the actual day, though you’ll be seeing at most two of these – I go elsewhere for mine 😊

Hopefully, though I probably won’t be playing anything I haven’t played before!

The film soundtracks are a good call. Some horror films have such great soundtracks, and they don’t often get a mention.
Best wishes, Pete.

A great list. It’s amazing to think about how popular Thriller and Ghostbusters were when they came out. I hear them now and yes, they were huge hits, but remember when Thriller was unveiled. It wasn’t random, MTV would actually list when they weee going to play the video next. I was never a big Michael Jackson (yes, I know shocking) but including Vincent Price was a genius move.
