“Tag You’re It!” A Blogging Challenge I Gladly Took On!

“Tag, You’re It!”

Well, who doesn’t love a good challenge? I woke up this morning to this blog from Stevie Turner…here is how she described it:

Tag, You’re It‘ is the Blogging Challenge I came across while reading ‘D.G Kaye’s‘ post. I enjoyed the post and decided to join in the fun.

What Stevie did was answer a number of questions about herself and blogging, then tagged me to do the same…which is why I called you all here.

Those who read me may have come across one of these “upside down selfies” I do from different places, like this massive Central Park rock, as well as places like the Moulin Rouge in Paris:

I liked the idea of this “tell us about yourself” tagging idea, so here goes:

How did you come up with your blog name?

Well, it’s my real name – but here’s the thing: when I first started blogging – which was my wife Alex’s idea for me – she asked me if I shouldn’t pick a name for it that tells people what it’s about…all these years later, even she will admit it’s all about me – and us – and things that interest me in movies, music, TV, travel, food etc.

If your blog was a person (fiction or real), who would it be?

I would have to say George Washington. Or Martin Luther King. Or the late great comedian Richard Pryor. People that, after hanging out with, you walk away thinking “hey, that was fun.” I really just hope that anyone reading something I post enjoyed the time doing so.

What helps you create new content if you feel like you need some inspiration?

This is a great question. I have a number of “regular” posts like “Dinner And A Movie”, “Music A – Z” or “Hitch Hiking” – but I also like to find interesting stories about travel, pop culture, movies and music that are worth sharing with others…the amount of response I get it a good indicator of whether that’s true or not! And yes, I use exclamation points so much that someone called me out on it once!!!

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with?

I love that idea! I think the idea of tackling a subject – or recipe – with someone would be fun because you’d get two unique takes on it!

I do take part in cookbook reviews with a group over at my food blog – which is here if you want to find out why Japan has “moon-viewing burgers” every fall:

Is there anything more you wish you had or would like to learn as a blogger?

I obsess a bit over the numbers of views and likes I get – should probably be more strategic about that…the SEO stuff and all that…but as it’s a hobby and an outlet for writing, probably not worth getting bothered about.

Do you have a specific style of blogging?

I hope that someone reading will think “boy, he’s really interested in this topic to go on and on about it for so long” – which I would take as a compliment!

So there you have it…and now, please go to Stevie’s blog to read her answers and see who she tagged!

Just as I was tagged, I will do so for a few others as well – would love to hear from these three:

Oh and here is my most recent post, where I hiked through the city of Cannes France and then watched an Alfred Hitchcock thriller that was made there:

And as usual, the shameless plug:

If you like these stories, why not sign up to receive emails whenever I post? It’s easy to do, I do NOT collect any information about you at all, there are absolutely NO ads of any kind, just stories about movies, music, food, travel and pop culture…

You can sign up by clicking on my blog here and see the note on the right!
