This Is NOT Australia’s Best Beach!
I took this photo of Bondi Beach in Sydney Australia and it is stunning to be sure, but it’s NOT the best beach in Australia – according to a new ranking!
What Is Australia’s Best Beach?
When I visited Bondi beach in Sydney Australia – I discovered that it is absolutely gorgeous from all angles:
But I read this terrific online article about a new report listing Australia’s best beaches, and here’s what it said:
“It’s not the famous sands of Bondi, the surf mecca of Bells, or the pristine white stretches along the Great Barrier Reef – but Squeaky beach in Victoria been named the best in Australia.”
Make Some Noise For “Squeaky Beach!”
Yes, that’s what this beach is called, and here’s why:
“Named for the under-foot sound of its quartz sand, the Wilson’s Promontory beach is close to the most southerly point of mainland Australia.”
Squeaky beach became the first Victorian beach to top Tourism Australia’s annual list, which celebrates the country’s diversity and some of its lesser-known coastal spots, one reason this beach came in second on the list:
Welcome To “The Farm!”
“The Farm” came in as the second best beach in Australia – it’s also known as Killalea beach – in Shellharbour, New South Wales.
Another unique beach, Tasmania’s Cockle Creek, which is Australia’s southernmost beach, came in third.
Look, they are all gorgeous, and I love that this list is trying to put a spotlight on some lesser-known beaches in Australia…I’d love to dip my toes into all of them!
Back to Bondi: I was there filming a TV show with my Host Sasha Grey, who agreed to pose with me at the beach:
She also graciously agree to learn to surf – something she had never done – just so she could ride the waves at Bondi:
Oh, there was one thing we forgot to tell her…you see, she did the lessons on dry land, so when I was talking to her she got her first taste of the water – and how cold it is – watch and enjoy:
Sasha was a very good sport – and did a great job on the waves as well!
She also spent some time inside a tank – underwater – with these two:
Yes, she walked among sharks, who were in the tank right alongside her…see more of this amazing adventure by clicking on my entire story here:
I loved my trip to Australia, which included a few days in the stunningly beautiful city of Melbourne:
I wandered this city and discovered they have a bridge that sings to you!
I discovered there is quite the rivalry down under between Melbourne and Sydney – click here to find out why:
Bill Bryson’s book is a must read and you can find out why by clicking on my story here:
I bought this book because of my interest in Australia – as a result of how funny this was, and because of what a great writer Bill Bryson is, I have purchased several more of his travel adventures, like this one:

I will look forward to that. Ours fizzled from an expected 9-12 inches to an inch. How much did you get?

I’ve been to australia a few times, due to one of my daughters marrying an Aussie, but they are on the west coast, south of Perth and there are some amazing beaches and everything else, there. I’ve read all of bill’s books and love his writing

Strangely, I have never had any desire to visit Australia, although I have always been fond of Koala Bears. I think it just seems too far away from England, and also not ‘different enough’ in culture.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, when I went there it was gorgeous, people terrific – and it felt like driving to Manhattan Beach about ten miles from our house in LA!

Except on the other side of the road, in a right-hand drive car. :) :)
