Get Ready For A Diabolical “Saltburn!”
If you haven’t heard of this film, get ready for that to change, as the film goes into release today and people will be talking!
It’s the kind of movie where you don’t want to know much before you go in, so here is the plot in one sentence:
“A student is invited to an eccentric classmate’s estate for an exciting summer.”
That estate is known as “Saltburn”! Here’s a look at the incredible cast:
From the left: Jacob Elordi from “Euphoria” and the new “Priscilla” stars along with Barry Keoghan, who was Oscar-nominated last year for “Banshees Of Inishherin”, Rosamund Pike is well known for many great movies like “Gone Girl” and on the right is acclaimed Actress-turned-Writer/Director Emerald Fennell.
Fennell won the 2021 Academy Award for her original screenplay for “Promising Young Woman”, and this latest film continues her fascination for complex characters with dark secrets!
Here are the other three main cast members in the film From the right now: Alison Oliver, Archie Medekwi and Richard E. Grant also star and the entire cast is superb – and the film?
Well, it is a movie where you go “WOW WOW WOW” a dozen times!
Here is the trailer, which I love because it gives little away!
That’s it – you really don’t want to know more…let it unfold in directions you don’t want to guess at or anticipate…it is a deliciously dark film, and my wife Alex and I got to see an advance screening last week:
Director Fennell and Producer Josey McNamara spoke for almost an hour afterwards about the making of the film, which included shooting at Oxford University, where Fennell went to school – I learned that it’s extraordinarily expensive to do so, but both Emerald and Josey felt it was necessary to capture that environment – and they were right!
They also shot at this incredible castle far outside London – chosen because Fennell wanted something that hasn’t been seen before…the house is a major part of the story as well!
That’s it – no more to share except if you want a beautifully written, acted and directed film, this is the one! It opens today!
By the way, if you don’t know Richard E. Grant well, here’s a way to meet him:
This absolutely brilliant film from the 80’s is the story of two struggling Actors in England in the late 60’s…click here to see the hilarious trailer and read more about this cult classic!
Since we are talking audacious cinema, here is another one:

We were at the cinema last week and the same trailer came up. We said to each other it sounded a good film to watch. Thanks for the recommendation, John.

My comment seems to have disappeared, so here is most of it again.
There is a real buzz around this film online, so I am glad to see you confirm it is as good as they say.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, it’s beautifully written, directed and acted, and I don’t want to talk plot too much because it builds insect a beautifully diabolical way you don’t expect at all! Not sure if you have Amazon Prime, but they financed it so it will be available fairly soon as a rental at home as well…but a theater release first because it will get a few Oscar nominations to be sure!

This sounds great, and anything with Rosamund Pike is fine by me. Hoping it hits one of the streaming services!

It was financed by Amazon so expect it there after a theatrical run…they want the Oscar buzz before streaming it – the acting is superlative!
