Talk About A Colorful Reflection!
I love this shot: the “pond” at the south end of New York’s Central Park, one gorgeous tree showing off as the skyscrapers loom overhead.
You see, the trees are changing color in the park and it’s spectacular – and here’s proof!
This is Central Park, a stunning shot shared on Instagram – probably from summer…cool, right?
Well, that was in summer.. now see what it looks like today!
I mean…the change is spectacular! Need more proof? Here are pictures I have taken in the past week – beginning with the view from our apartment:
Inside the park, this is what you see everywhere you look:
It’s truly stunning to see up close! The park is packed with tourists and locals alike, all taking picture of what I call “nature showing off!”
Here’s a some video of what you walk among:
Just a bit of info about this incredible park in the heart of the city:
“Built between 1858 and 1873, the park comprises six percent of Manhattan’s land area (843 acres) and is 2.5 miles long and a half-mile wide. The most frequented urban park in the nation, it attracts over 15 million visitors yearly.”
It’s a visual spectacle no matter where you go!
Now of course, when you walk through the park as the leaves change color, many also fall off the tree, leaving a lot to walk through…take a look:
Still, it’s worth it to see these vibrant colors up close…
I took many videos, two of which I shared already, but here’s one that is a bit more elaborate, with music and a mix of still and video…enjoy!
Let me leave you with one of my favorite shots, taken one weekend morning when Alex and I went for a walk and the weather started to turn…it was her idea to get the shot with the umbrella covering her face and I love it!
Now THIS tree isn’t from Central Park – my sister shared this from the Cedar River Trail in Washington – see her story and beautiful photos here!
For those who stop by this site regularly, you know that my wife and I relocated to New York and I have fallen in love with the city – and its castles:
Where else but in Central Park!

I also shared this story of an incredible sight I came across after a big rainstorm – again, in Central Park
This is water from “The Lake” in Central Park!
Click here to see some video of a very colorful overflow!
And of course, the lake is where I come across these guys:
The lake is full of Turtles – hungry ones!
Click here to see how they come out of the water for food!

Wow! Central Park is a magical place smack in the middle of the big city. The foliage is gorgeous, yet I am most struck by the photos of the park, surrounded by the city. You are lucky to live so close by.

LOVE this, John! That’s an incredible nature show, indeed! I’d love to see it someday! I especially love that first shot of the skyscrapers reflecting in the pond against the fall color. And the one with Alex is adorable. 🙂 And thanks so much for including ‘my’ ginkgo tree. 🙂

That reflection shot is literally across the ark from us…that “the pond” which is different than “the lake”, where Bethesday Fountain is…come visit!

They are amazing colours, and great photos too. There are still a lot of green leaves here in Beetley, they are taking their good time to change colour and fall from the trees.
Best wishes, Pete.
