“Rock ‘n’ Roll!”
It’s a phrase that has resonated for decades: the power of music to energize and empower – a call for celebration!
With that in mind, here are seven classic rock songs that all have the phrase in their title!
“I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll!”
We’ll start with this classic song by Joan Jett, with those immediately iconic lyrics:
“I saw him dancin’ there by the record machine
I knew he must a been about seventeen
The beat was goin’ strong
Playin’ my favorite song
An’ I could tell it wouldn’t be long Till he was with me, yeah me
And I could tell it wouldn’t be long Till he was with me, yeah me, singin’
I love rock n’ roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock n’ roll
So come and take your time and dance with me!”
Here is the video!
Next up, the first of two “Swan Song” rockers…
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy”
This record label, started by Led Zeppelin, released this upbeat, playful rocker from Bad Company:
“Put up the spotlights one and all
And let the feelin’ get down to your soul
The music’s so loud you can hear the sound
Reachin’ for the sky and churn In up the groundIts all part of my rock ‘n roll fantasy
Its all part of my rock ‘n roll dream”
Here is a live version of the song performed by the band many years later at Wembley Stadium in London:
Of course, one band released so many songs with variations of the phrase that it was tough to pick just one:
Legendary Australian rockers AC/DC had multiple songs with the words in the title, like “Rock ‘n’ Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution!”
Enjoy!
Sure, they appeared on stage looking like this, but KISS also had this classic:
“I Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll All Nite (And Party Every Day)”
And who didn’t at some point?
Here’s the video:
One of the most legendary bands in the world also used the phrase for a very catchy tune:
“It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (But I Like It)”
It was the title of their 12th album, and a fun, raucous number as well:
“I said I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll but I like it
I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it
I said can’t you see that this old boy has been a lonely?”
Now, for reasons lost to time, here is the video with them all dressed as sailors inside a deflating tent:
Boys will be boys!
Time to rock out with a true “American Band!”
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Soul”
These Flint Michigan rockers were best known for their iconic song “We’re An American Band”, but this fun song is worth a listen as well!
“We’re having a party yeah, yeah
Everybody’s invited
A new generation along with the old
If you can get with it just a little Lord
It don’t take much trying
You’ll find out if you’ve got some Rock-N-Roll soul baby
Hey everybody in the world so when you know what you got
Let everybody know
You’ve got some Rock-N-Roll soul”
Here’s a live performance from 1974 – completely with a topless Mark Farner!
Grand Funk may not be remembered as they should, because “The Simpsons” made them icons!

Jimmy Page would like to play you a little song, from one of rock’s most brilliant albums:
Titled “Zoso”, also just known as Led Zeppelin 4, it kicks off with “Black Dog” before taking it up a notch with “Rock And Roll”, with Robert Plant doing the vocals:
“Hammer Of The Gods” indeed!

All great choices, John. I didn’t know all of them so it’s good to learn some new music.
