Is Jeff Bridges A Killer? “Jagged Edge” And More “A-List” Thrillers For Halloween!

Buckle Up For A “Jagged” Thrill Ride!

Remember the days when big stars acted in provocative thrillers?

Well, so do I – so it’s time for a look back at some terrific “B-movies” that have “A-list” casts – I’m talking Harrison Ford, Glenn Close, Al Pacino and more – let’s begin with the fun, twisty thriller that had a very “jagged edge!”

“Jagged Edge!”

This 1985 thriller starred Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close.

The plot is straightforward: a wealthy woman is murdered in her beach house. The husband, Jeff Bridges, is allegedly knocked out first. He inherits everything, and when he is charged with murder, he hires a former criminal prosecutor, Glenn Close, to represent him.

Is that the killer’s gloved hand? Is Jeff Bridges wearing it?

The script from Joe Eszterhas is a tight, twisty thriller that makes it a bunch of fun to find out!

Here’s the trailer:

It’s so much fun to watch great “A”- list Actors embrace what I call “B”-movie fun! No pretension, just a fast=paced mystery that is great to watch. There’s a new blu-ray out that has a lot of fun bonus material as well!

There’s a 58-minute The Guardian Interview with Jeff Bridges, a 1990 discussion between the actor and critic Geoff Andrew at the National Film Theatre timed for an early screening of The Fabulous Baker Boys, covering his background from a famous showbiz family and his favorite roles from the actor’s always good-humored perspective.

Also, the 23-minute featurette “Killer Business” has Writer Joe Eszterhas with a new, hilariously candid interview about his entry into showbiz after working for Rolling Stone – and the path to writing this script that put him on the path to screenwriting stardom after a bumpy start with F.I.S.T.!

This comes from a terrific writeup of the film at the “Mondo Digital” website – see it all here:

This is just one of several terrific 80’s thrillers like this one:

Al Pacino had a huge career comeback with this sexy, violent thriller – see more of it here:

Even stars like Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford love to play in the thriller genre:

This terrific chiller is worth a look as well – you can see the trailer and more by clicking on my story here:

Of course, the “Citizen Kane” of 80’s thriller is this one:

Glenn Close fought to get this role, as she wasn’t considered “sexy” enough for the part – but she blew them away, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, and yes, the bunny was real!
