You know the face. EVERYONE knows the face. And this Friday, an older version is showing on on screen again!

He turned 91 years old this year. He’s acted in more than 70 films, directed 45 of them as well.

Clint Eastwood is one of the cinema’s most enduring stars: an Icon across so many genres – to celebrate his new film, which I will preview, here are a few examples from his SEVEN DECADES in film, beginning with the “spaghetti western” that made him a Superstar as “the man with no name”:

He has won the Academy Award for Best Picture twice, for “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby”, which also garnered Hilary Swank her second Best Actress award:

His career goes from action adventures to thrillers, dramas, Oscar-winning westerns, comedies and yes, even a Musical!

Everyone has their favorites, and not all were hits – but with the arrival of his latest film, “Cry Macho”, I wanted to look at a few of his most entertaining and provocative films, beginning with his most famous line all:

It’s the 1971 thriller that introduced the world to “Dirty Harry” Callahan, a San Francisco Detective with his own set of rules:

This terrific action thriller has Harry trying to find a Sniper who ends up abducting a school bus full of children – it’s filled with great action scenes, brilliantly directed by Don Siegel, who directed Eastwood in another film that same year:

And you know what? Siegel had a small role in Eastwood’s directorial debut that same year!

While Clint now mainly directs himself, there have been a number of great films where he put his trust in great Directors like Siegel – another is this 1993 classic:

Director Wolfgang Peterson directed this one – a great thriller about a Secret Service Agent and the psychopath who stalks him – check out the trailer:

John Malkovich and Rene Russo also stars, with Malkovich perfectly cast as the crazy killer who loves to taunt Clint:

Twenty years before, Eastwood starred in a great action film for Director Michael Cimino:

Cimino would go on to win the Oscar for “The Deer Hunter” – but this one is also a great film – click here to see more about it:

In 1984, Eastwood made a dark thriller that is one of his best:

“Tightrope”

Richard Tuggle directed Clint , who plays a New Orleans Cop who goes after a serial rapist-killer, but when he gets too close to the target, the hunter suddenly becomes the hunted.

Eastwood’s films over the past decade have been a bit hit-n-miss to me, but I applaud his incredible output and look forward to seeing “Cry Macho!”
