1,824 Drones Form An Entire Planet! The Stunning Tokyo Olympic Games Opening Night Video Is Here!

The 2021 Olympic Are Here!

After delays, pandemics and controversy, the Olympic Games kicked off the other night with another incredible display in Tokyo!

The opening ceremonies are always an incredible display of technology and artistry, and this was no different – the highlight was an incredible feat: more than 1,800 drones flying above the stadium, forming the planet!

HypeBeast had the story:

“Near the end of the opening event, a fleet of 1,824 drones rose above the stadium and illuminated the night, forming the official symbol of the Tokyo Games. The drones then smoothly transitioned into the shape of the Earth, shining the appropriate colors to map out each continent. A reworked rendition of  the classic John Lennon song “Imagine” then echoed across the stadium as the assembled drones slowly rotated in unison.”

As HypeBeast reported:

Drones have become a regular inclusion in Olympics opening ceremonies, though Tokyo’s integration proved the unprecedented power of the advanced technology with a breathtaking spectacle like none before. The drones utilized Intel’s “Shooting Stars” platform, as they did during the 2018 Games.”

As cool as those photos are, there is more! Here is the video – it begins with a minute or more of fireworks, then the drones appear and it is truly amazing:

Many have questioned the decision to hold the games when the world is going through another surge in Covid-19 cases…I will leave that debate for others to have, and just focus on the imagination, creativity and passion shown by the organizers of the opening night ceremony!

The Japanese have always been lovers of technology…remember this guy?
