Time To Double Down HARD!
As you know, I LOVE to find the wackiest food on the planet, and this may be one of my favorites, but boy is it controversial! The Hungry Horse pub chain in England is causing a “burger brouhaha” with their wacky “double doughnut burger”! Here is why:
Pub chain Hungry Horse, which is owned by Bury St Edmunds brewer Greene King, has been criticised for creating a burger which contains almost 2,000 calories.
The ‘Double Donut Burger’ consists of 1,996 calories (98% of a woman’s recommended daily calorie intake) it also packs in 53g of saturated fat and 8.2g of salt.

To paraphrase something Money Python once said about a wine: “this isn’t for eating. This is for putting down and walking away.”

I see this is from 2014, John, and I am sure they no longer sell it. (I will check) That said, I would have ordered one! Doughnuts are my favourite thing in the world to eat, but I don’t ever buy them, or I would eat them all.
Worth noting that the Hungry Horse chain is looked down upon here, and considered a ‘cheap and nasty’ restaurant. It isn’t terrible, but the food is basic, and almost certainly bought in frozen.
This is the nearest one to where we live now. (11 miles away) https://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/pubs/norfolk/henry-iv/
As you can see from their menu, it is still cheap, and they no longer sell the double doughnut burger. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
