Nice choice, John. So many to choose from–Kind of Comedy is considered brilliant–from what I remember. I need to revisit it now with older eyes. 30 years ago was a long time and I was too young to fully appreciate it.

I told Pete that I think many of the choices came from younger film fans, which is why his earlier work wasn’t included – no “Taxi Driver” or “Raging Bull!”

I went with Goodfellas, John, but your choice was solid. But how lame were those other choices? No Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Raging Bull, or Casino. But Hugo and Shutter Island included? What’s that about?
I despair at times, I really do.

Pete, I commented as well that I was surprised there was no “Taxi Driver”, and your other choices are equally superior to some of those mentioned, but I also notice that some of these end up with more modern choices – so I suspect they aren’t aware of some of the earlier classics! We must keep up the fight!
