Who’s Up For a #TravelChallenge?
This is the entrance to the classic village of Vaison la Romaine in Provence. My latest installment in the ten day #TravelChallenge heads to the south of France for a visual feast.
You see, the visual magic of this area is easy to see – both in the landscapes and the food as well!
That’s me with the acclaimed Food Writer and Cookbook Author Patricia Wells…my wife Alex and I cooked with her at her home in Vaison la Romaine!
Time for a tasty celebration of day #9 of this social media challenge I was nominated to participate in!
That’s right, when you cook with Patricia, you have to harvest your own food, which is what Alex did before making a terrific Eggplant dish for the class!
Details On This “Travel Challenge!”
The above photo shows just how inspiring our world can be – and how exhilarating it can be to explore it.
Now, about the “travel challenge”: it’s all about visual images – so the challenge is to post a favorite travel picture for 10 days without explanation – something I ws simply unable to do, because I love talking about this stuff.
I love traveling, and I love taking pictures, so this was an easy one for me…
Vaison la Romaine is a beautiful village near Avignon, and Patricia Wells and her husband Walter live there and hold cooking classes as well…in fact, I got to cook on a very special stove: you see, this was given to Patricia by Julia Child herself!
Walter and I whipped up some fresh Chanterelle mushrooms on that stove, and the whole class shared all of the great dishes we made together:
It was one of our favorite trips ever – and if you want more details on the cooking classes, you can see that by clicking on my story here:
While in the area, we explored Chateauneuf-du-Pape – or should I say TASTED:
We tasted great wine, and also drove to Orange, which has a Coliseum that might be as large as Rome’s, but you can go inside and sit in it!
I was nominated for this fun #TravelChallenge by Carol, whose website link is below. Carol shares terrific stories about exotic food and lots of unique recipes, as well as important stories about our environment!

Over the course of these ten days so far, I have gone around the world, including the magical city of Venice:
It’s not possible to get a bad shot here, and if you want to see more of that too, just click here:

I took a cooking class in Provence as well. I loved picking our own herbs for the meal we all prepared and ate. I still make some of those dishes. Looks like the two of you had a great time!

Darlene, taking classes like that is so much fun because of all of local ingredients…and we went shopping with Patricia at her favorite farmers market!
