Who Wants Some “Garlic Coke!” Is It Real? “What The Friday!?!?!” I’ve Got The Answer!

Sip On Some “Garlic Coke” – Wait – “What The Friday!?!?!?!?!”

Here is why the internet is such a great place to live: everyday, someone sends me a photo, or a video, of something wild and wacky – and this “What The Friday” is thanks to my friend Ben, who sent me the photo of “Garlic Coke.”

So of course, I had to investigate, so let’s head to Japan!

Welcome To Japan’s Garlic Capital!

Time to drop in on Aomori, the garlic capital of Japan!

The town has proudly created all sorts of delicious garlic products, like garlic ice cream and garlic beer!

So when this picture showed up, I had to know if it was true – and guess what? Kinda!

I discovered that a Coke mixed with some finely ground garlic was in fact produced in the town. Additional searching helped me find this picture of the garlic coke for sale…

As you can “kinda” see, the bottles don’t have the signature “Coke” logo, and in fact, the “Garlic Coke” shot is not actually real…

That said, the real “garlic coke” bottles I shared WERE REAL – so the product did exist, but most of the coverage was several years old, so if anyone is heading to Aomori soon, let me know if it’s still for sale!

And remember the last time I shared a unique flavor of Coke?

That’s right, remember the “Crab Cola?” It IS real, and you can read about it here:

Let me know your appetite for “Garlic Coke!”

  1. Thanks for sharing, John. I might be able to cook using that stuff. A friend of mine who was a bachelor at the time made Coca Cola Chicken. I’ll be forward a link to your post to him on Facebook.
As for myself, I’ll stick to my cup of tea and watching Masterchef.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

  4. Thanks for this John. The next I go on one of my nocturnal vampire stakings, you can bet this will be the refreshing beverage of choice.

  5. Garlic is supposed to have some decent health benefits, but I think I’ll pass. Yuck! 😂

    • I think it’s a garlic community’s way to have fun with their product…I would taste it once, but then revert to cooking with garlic the traditional way…thanks as always for your comment!

  6. Somehow, this sounds no better than say habanero jello or lime flavored milk. Funny to be sure, but I think I’ll file this idea with anything that starts with okra — which still sounds worse than either of my two fictional ideas above.

Another great find John. Have a great weekend.

  7. Wow! You always find the most interesting things! I did taste garlic ice cream on one of my trips, I don’t remember where it was. I didn’t like it. I do LOVE garlic, and use it almost daily.

  8. Hmm, I can’t begin to image what that might taste like. Interesting!

    • I had garlic wine once and it’s EXACTLY what you would expect a white wine infused with garlic essence to taste like…as Monty Python once said: “that’s not a wine for drinking, that’s a wine for putting down and walking away…”

  12. It could be nice, I suppose, John. A bit like the salted caramel principle. I am not a fan of garlic so I won’t be trying it.
