A Real “Stairway To Heaven!”
Talk about a pathway to the top of the world – this is an amazing hiking trail in Hawaii!
The Haʻikū Stairs, also known as the “Stairway to Heaven” or “Haʻikū Ladder”, is a steep hiking trail on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii.
This hike is almost 4,000 steps – many straight up!
The hike up the Stairway to Heaven is one of the most popular of Oahu’s “forbidden” trails. Yes, forbidden – this path is closed!
First you have to make the 2,120-foot, 3,922-step ascent. But even though the trail is closed today, some avid hikers go anyway because of the spectacular view that awaits from the top.

I hate when questions are left unanswered. Why is it closed, When did it close, When was it built, How long was it open, Did something happen to cause its closure, etc.

Yes, people still hike it but they’ve tried to block them as much as they can!
